Long horn installation

Hi Iam trying to install Windows Longhorn Professional Edition Beta 1 (English) on windows 2003 server system, but while installing after key in the cd key (got thru msdn access) it terminates the setup there... can some one please help me installing this..
Even I tried installing Windows Vista CTP - 32-bit - Build 5231 (English) on the same server its teeling not supported file system or something like that
Please help.......

You have not given us enought information to make an appropriate suggestion or answer. You said Professional, so I am suspecting this is build 5112, it sounds like you are attempting do an upgrade from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Vista build 5112, this is not a supported scenario, clean install only. What you could do is create a partition, boot off the CD and select it during setup. Also, other things can factor into termination of setup such how much free space do you have on the disk, the amount of RAM installed. Tell us a little bit more about how you launched setup. I suspect the same applies for Vista 5231, clean installs only. -- -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Shahin" wrote in message

Yeh, Longhorn Professional B1 (TechNet) is build 5112. You can't upgrade from 2003 Server I'm afraid. Make sure you're inputting the key *exactly* with the - hyphen symbol in there as well to seperate the sets of 5 sets of 5 digits.

Its not issue with key really because from the sound of his post, it is accepted, but then terminates after. I suspect this is because of the invalid upgrade path. -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Zack Whittaker (R2 Mentor)" wrote in message

True... but having said that... it's beta software, so it could be the fact that he put his coffee cup on the wrong place of his desk ;o)
I *still* use my DVD-R drive as a coaster you know; simple, yet effective, I call it "simplective" :op
